Researching Using Fastcase

This guide will show you how to use Fastcase to perform effective legal research.

More Resources in Fastcase

In addition to cases and statutes, Fastcase also makes a wealth of other information available, including court rules, legal periodicals, forms, and treatises. Their Authority Check feature will help you determine whether a case is safe to cite to.

Verifying Good Law

Before you cite a case, it's important to verify whether it's been criticized, questioned, or overturned by cases that came after it. Please watch the video below to learn how Fastcase can help you do this.

Court Rules

Our Fastcase collection contains the complete text of many rules of practice, including state and federal rules of civil procedure, evidence, appellate procedure, and more. It also contains court rules for the state Courts of Appeal and the federal district courts located in Texas.

To browse the court rules and materials available through Fastcase, first access the "Outline view" in Fastcase by clicking on the "Outline" button next to the search bar.
