Researching Using Fastcase

This guide will show you how to use Fastcase to perform effective legal research.

About Fastcase

The State Law Library is proud to offer Fastcase to our patrons so they can conduct case law research from home.  If you have never used Fastcase or another case law database before, this guide will show you how to find the information you need. 

Before you can access Fastcase through the State Law Library, you first need to register for a free library account.

Accessibility in Fastcase 7

Fastcase recently upgraded their interface to Fastcase 7. Among other improvements, Fastcase 7 is now fully screen-reader compatible. It also offers a high contrast version for users with low vision, colorblindness, or other visual disabilities. To use the high contrast version, first find the "Account" icon in the upper righthand corner of the page:

From there, select "Switch to High Contrast":

If you are an experienced Fastcase user and prefer Fastcase 6, you will still be able to access this version. To do so, first find the "Account" icon in the upper righthand corner of the page:

Clicking on this icon will give you several options, including the option to switch "Back to Fastcase 6":
